Today, on January 26th 2023, we would like to pay our deepest respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, past, present and to future generations. Many First Nations communities consider this a Day of Mourning. We acknowledge the hurt, pain, and trauma that is felt by many.

Whilst broadly, some enjoy festivities through barbecues and family gatherings, it is important that we also recognise the conflicting emotions that this day represents.

Whether you are flipping burgers or going about your day as normal, we encourage you to take a moment to reflect on those that are forever impacted by the events of this significant day.

Please find below, a statement from Rev. Dr. John Smith – Concern Australia’s Founder – made in 1997, entitled ‘A Covenant of Reconciliation’.
