Congratulations Anne Mitchell

HESTA national community award winner

Anne Mitchell, the Program Manager of our Steps Outreach Service, would be well known to many of you given her work over many years with the organisation. We are delighted to announce that Anne has been awarded the ‘Unsung Hero’ category in the HESTA National Community Sector Awards.

Through Steps, Anne has provided over 18 years of support and advocacy to young people experiencing homelessness. She leads a team of workers and volunteers who engage with young people on the steps of Flinder’s Street Station and provide relational and practical support.

Reliant solely on grants and donations, Anne has sustained Steps through fundraising and advocacy. She helps the young people she works with to build a sense of self-worth and equips them with the tools they need to create a positive future.
