Old Skool Blues/Rock 'Resurrection Blues and Gospel' Tour to EasterFest Announced
Concern Australia has announced plans for a collaborative East Coast concert tour in conjunction with Easterfest 2010, Toowoomba. God’s Squad founder Rev Dr John Smith will link up with leading musician friends including old skool USA blues/rock legend Glenn Kaiser, of Rez Band fame, and Australia’s world renowned folk/gospel singer-songwriter of the open road, Steve Grace.
"The tour from Melbourne to Toowoomba will bring together three legends of the open road", Tour organiser Peter Hilton said.
"The tour, which starts in Melbourne on 25 March and will culminate in Toowoomba where the three touring legends will headline at Easterfest 2010, for three days of live music from some of the best international and Australian artists, rides, competitions, forums, worship and workshops," he said.
The tour is being supported and promoted by EasterFest 2010, organised by God's Squad Christian Motorcycle Club, and supported by Concern Australia, the Christian mission and youth welfare organisation that grew out of the work of God's Squad with youth on the streets, in schools and in prisons.
Legendary steel guitarist and blues musician, Glenn Kaiser from the famous 'Rez Band' have their roots as an outreach of the Jesus People in the USA., which later became JPUSA in Chicago. Resurrection Band, which formed in 1972, was an evangelical outreach which ushered in a brand of classic hard rock glorifying Jesus and focusing on issues that spoke to the hippy generation of the 70’s. Glenn and Rez Band are credited with helping transform contemporary Christian music to what it is today. They continue to be an active part of JPUSA and perform at music festivals around the world.
Steve Grace has a long link to country Australia, having started out driving trucks and singing in pubs. He's been travelling throughout Australia, and all over the world for years and his heart and passion is to share the Good News. Steve credits John Smith with having deeply impacted his faith development and journey. including with John Smith and God’s Squad
