Stand4 - Concern Australia Drug Education Unit

is a specialised unit set up to implement quality workshops of length and depth that address the topic of Drug, Substance and Alcohol abuse, from a prevention/protective, harm minimisation perspective. These workshops are not only interactive, but have a higher level of participant involvement and seek to see students ‘own’ the drug and alcohol issue and take active steps to facilitate change in their school and community.

a) Drug education workshops of varying length depending on demand
b) Provide follow up and resource materials for seminars
c) Promotion of support services
d) Act as referral to quality and sound drug counselling agencies

Imperative elements in this program, in line with National Drug Campaign include…

  • Educating young people about the potential negative consequences of using illicit drugs
  • Encouraging and reinforcing protective behaviours
  • The promotion of resiliency education
  • Learned optimism and effective esteem development strategies
  • World-view calibration and assimilation

NEW Flash‘ATTITUDE RECALIBRATION’ Packages!

Values don’t just magically appear, they are shaped and formed as the collective result of family and society of which school is a vital part. However, it is not only the data of values alone that brings change, it is an important ‘mix’ of foundations, narrative, good script, role models and creative consistent repetition, repetition, repetition and repetition.

With that tried and tested dynamic in mind we have set about developing seminar packages that can help YOU get the message across to your ‘little cherubs’!

a) 'BIG ISSUE' Package

Looks at some of the big issues and symptoms of problems as well as the beginnings of addressing causational issues.

  • Brain Dead - Drugs & Alcohol and why we use them
  • S.L.R. – Sex, Love and Relationships
  • B.A.A.D – Bullying Abuse And Disregard
  • World View and the Wheelbarrow – How and why kids see the world the way they do

b) 'BOUNCE' Resiliency Package

Specifically addresses issues that can knock kids about and gives some of the tools needed to ‘hang tough.’

  • ‘Freaking Out’ – Coping with difficult emotions
  • ‘Media & Marketing Mayhem’ - The sway of media and the market on kids psyche  OR  ‘Press the Pressure’ – Peer Pressure and its soul shaping impact
  • ‘Life according to Ralph, Jackass / Cleo, Cosmo and Dolly’ – Maleness/Femaleness and Identity and what contributes to how we see ourselves
  • 'World View and the Wheelbarrow' – How and why kids see the world the way they do what makes for a poor and good world-view

The recommendation is that one seminar is presented each term to a class, cluster or year level (depending on size). Each of the seminars is especially linked to provide consistency of data with little or no overlap, except for reiteration. Conducting seminars on these terms has a cost saving of up to 25%... contact us for further information 1300 796 234.

Work Experience

Year 10 - 12 students can now have the experience of a lifetime working with the V4L Team, gaining first hand insight into the dynamics of what it takes to run such an effective program. Those who join us have a great time while getting to understand what it means to work in a not for profit welfare organisation.
